Letterpress is the oldest form of relief printing, and much of the printing process is very similar to what it was over 500 years ago. Since that time, letterpress has also evolved from industrial craft to fine art, employing a variety of experimental techniques along the way.
In this casual workshop/open studio, we will be using two presses to demonstrate the unique possibilities of letterpress: on one press, we'll be printing a wood type form, and on the other we'll be experimenting with the pressure printing process. Come by, get your hands dirty, and take home a print to commemorate the festival.
